ABOUT: Dennis Wilson Wise, PhD.
For all things fantasy and SF related, this is the right place. As a critic and literary historian, I focus heavily on Tolkien and genre fantasy, mainly in prose, but a major side interest involves speculative verse as well. My anthology, Speculative Poetry and the Modern Alliterative Revival unveils a hitherto unsuspected revival of the medieval alliterative meter, and it’s been well reviewed in places like Strange Horizons, Mythlore, Quadrant, and more.
Forgotten Ground Regained presents their listing of my scholarly contributions to the modern revival, and this interview with Haunted Eternal Summer offers a nice, quick discussion of the anthology.
But I’ve done more stuff, too. My research has appeared in all the major SFF journals, plus places like the Journal of Modern Literature, and I’ve won awards for teaching, research, and service. Consult my Curriculum Vitae, but these awards include the Mary Kay Bray Award from the SFRA, and I was the reviews editor for Fafnir when it became the first academic journal to ever win a World Fantasy Award.
